Navigatornew option to draw guides (center point, rule of thirds and the golden ratio)new option to increase Quality in "HiQual"-Mode (by decreasing RayStep multiplier in steps of 0.05)
New module ZBuf16Bit-module which allows you to create high-quality depth-maps/z-buffers. Those maps can be used in MB3D itself, of course ñ but are also suited to create very interesting effects in other 3D-packages like Octane Render (e.g. as displacement maps).

Report a bug
You may report bugs directly to the author via email (You can find the email adress inside the README-files of the downloaded *.zip-file)
Please take your time to describe your problem as precisely as possible and provide the following information:What did you do?What did you expect to happen? What happened instead? When possible, please provide an example. We will not share them, but usually they help a lot to analyze a problem

The Complete Guide to Creating Infinite 3D Worlds - by Matteo Scappin
Mandelbulb3D (as well as the Mandelbulb itself) was initially invented at the forum fractalforums.com. The software (also known as „MB3D") was written by the user Jesse. He used a combination of Delphi (for simplicity and speed of development) and 32 Bit assembly (for speed). Version 1.0 of Mandelbulb3D was released by Jesse in 2010. After releasing a lot of updates Jesse retired, his final update was 1.89 so far.
I took over the project in 2015 and pushed the source code to GitHub. So I’m the current (and only, unfortunately) maintainer of MB3D and continously am creating new releases since this time.
In fact, this was never intented by me. When I took over the project there where a lot of people which offered their help. But, it turned out, that the combination of Delphi and 32 Bit assembly code as well as the need to use a commercial development environment (Delphi IDE) does not really attract developers. I understand this, it is really a challenge to work with this code base, and any change may be easily a breaking change.
Improvements over the original version
Since the latest version from Jesse, I created about 10 releases so far, and added the following improvements:ZBuf16Bit-module to create z-buffes/depth-maps in high qualityBTracer2-module to create high-quality meshes (in nearly unlimited resolution) from within Mandelbulb3DIntegrated module to generate heightmaps from arbitrary meshesMutaGen-module to easily explore new combinations of formulas and settingsIntegrated formula-editor for creating/editing JIT-compiled formulasSupport for animated (height)mapsNavigator-size may be adjustedGlobal rework of the UI, added theme-support
Source code of the project
The source code of the project is public and currently hosted at GitHub.
My name is Andreas Maschke aka „overwhale“ and I’m creating software for about 30 years. I'm working with very different languages and technologies, and I have still fun to learn new stuff. And, I'm still a fan of the Delphi-language.
I'm in charge with many other software-projects, but also have a lot of other interests, including growing chillies, weight-lifting and reading books.
